Year 2 in Nursing
It was definitely one of the most memorable times during my polytechnic days! It was beneficial for me to get to know my course better and as well as assimilate into the new school environment i was in :) Turning on lectures to clock in my attendance, individual essays assignments, lab practicals and as well as group projects was something I was able to slowly learn during my PFP year before Year 1 started. Now that I am in Year 2, I am more focused and well balanced when it comes to schoolwork and as well as my student life :)

Yes, it was definitely useful, it helped us learn essential subjects such as communications and maths topics which we didn't have in secondary schools. On top of that, we also had related modules to our poly course, this provided great insights and gave us a head start in poly.

I do find the extra year in PFP beneficial as it gave me a head-start and it allowed me to familiarise myself with how the exams and the projects are like in poly. With an extra year in PFP , i managed to join the CCA of my choice, NYP Students’ Union and starting from year zero teaches me how to juggle both my academic and cca commitments when i move onto year 1 when i have more modules & more commitments

One of the tips to balance CCAs and school work is to use the free time/days to catch up on my school work. CCAs was one of the things I do not regret joining as it helped to enhance my school life better. With the free time such as asynchronous lectures being held online, it could act as a free time to finish your assignments and project work. This also allows you to pace yourself better when you graduate from PFP :)

Plan out your days properly, especially if you know you’re going to have CCA on certain days, make sure to have ample time to study as well.

Do your tutorials and watch your lectures!! Remember to do you due diligence :)) Lastly it would be to start your ICAs early so there's more time for trial and error.
